The depth marker is a special diamond drill that enables the dentist to remove only a specified amount of dental enamel.
Depth markers are mainly used while preparaing teeth to receive veneers. Here one can see the depth marker in use. One can see how the horizontal depth marks are placed for grinding with the help of the depth marker.
Next, the grooves are marked with a pencil. This serves for better orientation of the abrasive device. With these simple aids, the dentist knows how much enamel needs to be removed.
The dentist then removes the desired amount of enamel by grinding the teeth until the pencil marks have disappeared. Thanks to the depth marker, the technician now has adequate area for ceramic material. Considering that the veneers should be of a specific thickness, and at the same time, minimum enamel should be removed from the teeth, the depth marker provides an excellent advantage for dentists by enabling them to meet both these requirements.
